  • Knowing where you want to play is essential if you own your business.
  • If you put out fires all day and you’re at the ceiling, you have to take that out and align it in a framework that makes sense so you can start assigning accountability.

  • The biggest issue for most is people.
  • No matter how difficult this framework section is, we can’t go on without people.
  • When it comes to people, there are three different sectors: your team, clients, and suppliers.
  • As Pete goes through conversations with clients, they come to these epiphanies and more clarity on who belongs in their business. 

The Wheel of Momentum

  • The Wheel of Momentum has six spokes.
  • The six C’s are clarity, confidence, competence, cooperation, capacity, and creativity.
  • It is crucial to get clear on what you want to move the ball on because you can work with it.
  • When your confidence builds as a leader, you begin to communicate your idea to your teammates.
  • You can then focus on cooperation and decide who else can help you.
  • Then get to the point where you are building capacity easier than before.
  • After establishing the three C’s, this is where the creative juices start to flow.

How instinct fits in with frameworks and processes

  • You still need data and critical points to make decisions. 
  • Pete believes you should always decide at the lowest level possible in every organization.
  • You can only make so many daily decisions, and allowing your team to make decisions is essential.

  • Pete would like to be remembered as a good husband, father, and son. There’s nothing more important to him than his family.
